Kirketon Hotel, Darlinghurst
The Kirketon Hotel originally opened in 1999 with a minimalist design by Burley Katon Halliday. This intimate 40 room boutique hotel is located in the heart of Sydney's restaurant, bar and nightclub district of Darlinghurst.
Acquired by Eight Hotels in 2003, the hotel was redesigned by Connie Alessi of Edge Design. The iconic hotel was completely gutted (except bathrooms) for the refurbishment, with rooms reconfigured to provide an improved layout and custom designed joinery and mirrors to give the hotel a unique style and eclectic ambience. Finished with velvet fabrics and pillows, black hand-carved pewter mirrors, dark leathers and timbers, and custom furniture, the Kirketon showcases a stunning, sensuous design experience, replacing the hotel’s minimalist history with contemporary elegance reminiscent of great Parisian boutique hotels, the new wave of New York properties and ‘Sydney cool’.
