A seat fit for a princess
Did you know that James Richardson have been importing original bentwood Princess chairs from the Czech Republic since 1956? They have invited 10 designers to recreate one of their Princess chairs for their showroom display during Saturday in Design.
As part of The Project this year, James Richardson are working closely with interior designers Morris Selvatico, to generate a creative display within their showroom in Young St, Waterloo especially for Saturday in Design. To remind the design community that JR have been importing original bentwood chairs for more than 50 years, and to celebrate over 150 years of this pioneering technique of manufacturing furniture, they have invited 10 Sydney-based design firms to paint, decorate and recreate one of their Model 18 Princess chairs.
The designers taking part are: Orson & Blake, Siren Design, Juicy Design, Split Watermelon, Morris Selvatico, Studio Red, Paul Kelly Design, DS17, Homeware Gallery and Graham & Associates.
All of the entries will feature within their transformed showroom during the event – so make sure you check it out and compare the recreated chairs on the day. You will see the winning design receive $1000 worth of James Richardson products – plenty of reason to put them on your event checklist.
