The Project - in more detail...

Set to bring a whole new level to Saturday in Design, get ready for the inclusion of The Project this year, where for the first time, the audience becomes part of the content. Members of Australia’s best architecture, design and creative firms have partnered up with participating SiD showrooms, and will be creating installations and innovations, using and inspired by showroom product.

Similar to the Milan fair, design locations at SiD will be transformed for the occasion with the designers taking inspiration from product to create installations of every kind, shape and colour, as part of The Project. This is the first time ever that designers have played such an instrumental role in an Australian design event, so immerse yourself in the best that they have to offer, around town at Saturday in Design.

Carlton/Fitzroy/North and West Melbourne

· 'Underground at the Meat Markets' - Mariachi Design with the following companies have re-created London’s Underground tube system at the Arts House Meat Markets curated venue:

· Woods Bagot will create a new interior display using Instyle Contract Textiles, Contemporary Leathers and Wovin Wall’s new collections.

· Cunsolo Architects are helping Insitu launch the Myto chair by Konstantin Grcic for Plank

· Baenziger Coles will creatively express the three elements of James Richardson’s business, along with an island of Milan product.

· Jardan Australia and Kvadrat Maharam are working with Jackson Clements Burrows

· Exponential Design have designed a new branding for Living Edge

Southbank/South Melbourne

· A shipping container is transformed by Tony Camilleri to showcase ‘Tomorrow’s Kitchen’ by Fisher & Paykel

· Hettich Australia with German designer Thorsten Rosenstengel

· Hassell takes us on a journey to an environment that will delight the senses and stimulate the imagination. The forest will come to life and reveal Schiavello’s wild side.
